Re-buy Rebuff

Some poker online tournaments are run as “rebuys.” These formats will have a fixed entry fee, or even start as a freeroll, but players can then buy more chips, typically up to a certain limit, to reinforce their chip stacks. Unlike fixed fee tournaments, rebuy events are not a level playing field as the participants can start out with different sized stacks.

Rebuy tournaments are usually inexpensive to enter, but can wind up costing lots of money for players who make rebuys, especially the maximum amount. However, it is possible to play a rebuy with the minimum buy-in and still make it into the money. In fact, it’s a good low-cost way to gain experience when you play online poker. The fact that you have invested a small amount might even improve your game because with little money at risk, you might be willing to play a more aggressive game, unlike the players who have dug deep into their wallets. An all-in bet from a non-rebuyer might only be the equivalent of a $10 buy-in while the rebuyer, who spent $150 to build a big chip stack, is making a bet that size when all in.

When you play these type of casino online tournaments and are determined not to re-buy, but to play as long as you can on your initial small stack, then keep this tip mind – you need to double up several times before the re-buy period is over. That means waiting very patiently for powerful pocket starting cards and getting all your chips in. True, you may bust out early, but there’s little lost. On the other hand, you could double up or more, putting you in better contention with those who bought their stacks instead of earning them with disciplined play.
