Naveen Jain’s Intelius Gives Back to the Community
In the face of the economic downturn where thousands of businesses have been shut down, jobs slashed, and homes foreclosed, Intelius, an electronic commerce company founded and led by Naveen Jain, is amplifying its efforts in helping meet the growing demands of the community. Naveen Jain recognizes it is their responsibility to boost corporate giving in these pressing times when other companies have no choice but to step back. Intellius is actively engaged in numerous philanthropic initiatives, donating to a number of charities and organizations that focus on the development of education and healthcare as well as youth and family services. In 2008, the company donated almost $210,000 to some national and local nonprofit organizations. Moreover, employees have personally volunteered their time and effort to certain charities. Naveen Jain and his wife Anu have also personally made financial contributions to various organizations. East Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) and Seattle Children’s Hospital are among the institutions Intelius has given assistance to. Established in 1981, East Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) is a support group for women who have been victims of domestic violence relating to physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. EDVP is the largest provider of services for victims of domestic violence in Washington. The organization provides services in the east and north King County, and it seeks to put a stop to violence and prevent such aggression through education, support and advocacy. EDVP offers a vast range of programs including housing programs, 24-hour crisis line, women’s support groups, community education and training, outreach programs, children’s support programs, and community advocacy. Seattle Children’s Hospital is a medical institution founded in 1907 that prides on their advance pediatric research and patient care with a heart. U.S. News & World Report and Child magazines have listed Seattle Children’s Hospital as one of the best children’s hospitals in the United States.
