Choosing the best costumes for any occasion can certainly be a hassle. It is difficult to search for something new each year or maybe every week. You may procure ready-made costumes. This relieves you from any hassle of picking out the best costume for your kids. Aside from that, this also gives you the opportunity to personalize the costume based on your kids’ preference. There are even kids costumes that could double for more than one character, theme, or occasion.

Renaissance Fairs

Each year, the kids are looking forward to attending the Renaissance Fair where they can dress up in valiant costumes. Children’s Costumes can range from princes and princesses to fairies and thieves. Animal costumes also are well-loved. Pirate costumes can double for Renaissance era thieves; a Peter Pan fancy dress outfit without the hat can certainly be a Page or perhaps a Puck; and a Princess costume along with a pair of wings equals a fairy. And also, even costumes just like monks or vampires are suitable.

Going to a Convention

Who says that conventions are for grown ups only? There are actually conventions that are especially conducted for the kids including movie, book and comic conventions. Mini-conventions such as book or movie launches are also ideal for dressing up. This can be a good chance to get your kids dressed up as their favorite characters. Super heroes, Jedis, fairies, witches, vampires, whatever, they’ve got kids costumes for it. Everyone loves seeing little ones in kids costumes and the kids love being in them.

Attending a Party

Parties also give kids the chance to dress up. A 1950s theme party needs poodle skirts, greaser jackets, and Elvis costumes. Super Hero parties are perfect for little boys to dress up as Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, Robin, Beast Boy, and even Cyborg. Girlscan select from Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Starfire and Super Girl. Parties having a heavy emphasis on video games need heroes like Mario and Luigi and damsels just like Princess Peach.

Dressing up for the Halloween

One of the reasons why Halloween is celebrated annually is to give kids the opportunity to wear their favorite fictional characters. Kids aren’t only tied to wear themed costumes. They may also wear anything they feel like wearing. Indeed, kids have many options. They may choose movie and TV characters, skeletons, Jack-o-Lanterns, mermaids and the list goes on. Have a costume that really needs a little updating? Or perhaps did last year’s sword get bent in poor condition? If you want to fix the issues the simplest way, you can buy new costume accessories. Of course, there’s also the situation of your child growing out of last year’s costume. You do not have to fret on this as these outgrown costumes could be handed down to youngsters.

Don’t just dispose off these costumes after all of those parties, conventions and fairs since these can nevertheless be reused. It is recommended that you set these costumes in an area where kids have an easy access on them to be able to nurture their imagination. So better buy Kid’s costumes today and put a smile on your children face.

Have you been hanging around in internet forums and/or making blog comments lately? Public posting is growing ever-popular. One thing I’ve noticed, is that if you use it for business purposes and you accidentally blurt the wrong thing, it can get ugly pretty quick. A remark that was never intended to be malevolent turns out to offend somebody, and next thing you know, you’re engaged in yet another public forum ping pong match. This can be downright exhausting. So is there a ‘proper’ way to conduct oneself on the network, in the forum, and on the blog? From what I’ve seen so far, I have to say yes.

May I present: The Unofficial Internet Posting Rules.

1. Always assume that the other person has good intentions.

There you are, sprinkling comments here and there and having a fine old time, when suddenly up pops someone who begs to differ. A good debate can be envigorating, but if things escalate, you may begin to feel attacked and/or misunderstood. Do you have a right to feel this way? Who is attacking who anyway?

Internet conversations feel remote because they are. You can’t diffuse a tense conversation by cracking a joke or meeting someone’s eyes with a silent apology. Internet ‘arguments’ can string along for days because, unlike a verbal argument which quickly fades from your memory, they’re harsh words frozen in time. Someone who is ripping you a new one on the public forum may actually be a wonderful person who thinks a lot like you, but you wouldn’t know because all you see are those hostile words on the screen that won’t go away!

For this reason, it’s unbelievably important not to take internet skirmishes to heart. The truth is, you may be taking offense for no good reason. And even if someone really does seem to be out for your blood… who cares? Click away and they’re gone. Besides; the world is watching. How much of a scene do you want to make?

2. Ditch the sarcasm.

Sarcasm really does not translate on the internet. Sarcasm is my favorite form of communication, so believe me I’ve tried. People can’t tell by your tone or gestures if you’re serious, kidding, scathing, or what, so if you want to communicate effectively and efficiently, steer clear of sarcasm. I’ll give you an example of sarcasm causing confusion on the internet.

Networker 1: Say, Networker 2, how was that teleseminar you attended?
Networker 2: It was really something special.

“It was really something special.” Hmmm. What could that mean, exactly? Sounds a little smart-alecky, but who knows! The reader can’t be sure, so a straightforward answer might be the better option. “The guy was a good speaker, but I felt like he was telling me things I already knew. I’ll have to pick a more advanced course next time.” Now, there’s a complete answer that’s based in fact and well-expressed!

Some people use emoticons to convey when they’re being sarcastic, such as the smiley for “just kidding” , the wink which might mean, “I’m just teasing,” or the guy-with-his-tongue-out – “I know I’m being goofy.” Other people use internet gestures, like the *grin* and the :::shiver:::.

Emoticons are okay for a less formal public forum setting, but not so much for business networking. Use them sparingly. How are you supposed to appear professional if you’re throwing (((hugs))) everyone’s way? I don’t know about you, but I don’t go around hugging people I don’t know!

All this being said: stick to literal communication whenever possible. I know more than anybody how tough this is. If you’re really unsure about it, you can always just be a forum ‘lurker’ for a while, until you get the hang of how it’s done.

3. Instead of offering opinions, ask questions.

People love to argue. Make a statement, and by God, someone out there is going to contradict it. If you enjoy and know how to play the debate game, take them on… it will be a learning experience for all. But if conflict makes your tummy hurt, you can spur on a discussion in a more genteel way; by asking questions!

If you ask people what they think, they’ll feel encouraged to jump into the discussion… and that’s what you want, isn’t it? Ask questions, and let folks know you’re open to new points of view. When you word your ideas in the from of questions, you’re basically saying “Hey, I know I don’t have all the answers. But I’m thinking, and I’d love for you to add your insights.” Then, by phrasing your questions in a specific way, you can gently ‘lead’ the conversation. Next time you have a strong opinion to state, practice rephrasing it into a question. “What ways might we practice common courtesy in an effort to improve internet communication?” There, see how easy that was?

4. Remember the real-time issue.

If you haven’t noticed, real-time has some wacky effects on internet communication. Sometimes, messages look like they’re written in response to something someone else said… when really, they just landed there by sheer coincidence!

Suppose someone posts a remark at 9:05 a.m. Pacific Time, as you just happen to be posting the exact opposite viewpoint at 12:05 p.m. Eastern Time. When the messages “land” one after the other, it creates the illusion that the second person was arguing with the first person, when actually they were not and had no knowledge of the other person’s post! Whoa. That’s real-time at work, and it’s some crazy stuff. The lesson to be learned: don’t assume anything, especially on the internet.

The other way that real-time can botch up the works is if you’re seeking advice or technical support. You post a question, some time elapses, and the moderator replies. But by now, you’ve figured out the answer and it’s led you to a third complication. Now, you can either try and over-explain the confusion in an effort to be polite, or say to yourself, “the heck with this” and leave the discussion, which could be perceived as rude. It’s quite a fretful situation. Keeping this in mind…

5. Think before you speak.

Using the example from Point 4: thinking before you ask technical questions can save everybody the exhaustion of over-communication. Rather than blurt out your confusion, have a look around, see what’s going down. Is there an FAQ section you can refer to?

I have been known to dive right in to the chat without knowing what the heck is happening. As a result, I am familiar with the taste of shoe leather. If you’re puzzled about what’s going on in a public forum discussion… can you go back and read a few old posts to get caught up? You’ll save everyone a lot of wasted words if you just get with the program. I learned the hard way, but you don’t have to.

“Think before you speak” also means proofread. Be on the lookout for ambiguous content. If you’re tired, stressed or feeling under the weather, you may have some trouble getting your point across. Maybe it’s not the best time to communicate.

As a writer, I’m acutely aware of word choice. Use the wrong word, and WOOOPS- somebody is getting the total wrong idea. Copywriters have a chance to write multiple drafts – and in that way, get multiple chances to refine what they say in their writing. Internet posters don’t have this option. Once you hit POST, you can’t take back what you’ve written. All you can do is send MORE posts, and give folks the impression that you are a babbling fool! So, for your own sake, heed my words, take your time, think about what you want to say, and PROOFREAD!

Above all, keep a positive attitude and an open mind. Welcome others’ opinions while gently expressing your own. Be forgiving and patient with people and their bumbling ways. Be a good internet communicator.

Among the most famous of the North American independent firms administrating club membership programs is a firm called Trilegiant. The company and Nathaniel Lipman, its President, partner with a range of retail brands including major retail, dental, travel, entertainment, health, and other organizations to streamline the retail experience.

Mr. Lipman and Trilegiant are not unknown to the field. Hailing from the state of Connecticut, the company started out over thirty five years ago and now covers work in six states, 8 offices, and around three thousand knowledgeable members of staff. As of this moment, they service upwards of twenty five million customers across the United States. Nathaniel Lipman’s business is famous for its risk free packages that make it easy for members to make savings, acquire quality products and services, in addition to making shopping simpler. Examining one example, the Buyers Advantage scheme offers cheaper insurance on extended warranty, return guarantees, and repair costs, thus guaranteeing their assurance regarding their acquisition. There are other programs on offer like HealthSaver — which deals in inexpensive quality healthcare — to take one example.

It is those not uncommon times when the business gives back to the populace that Trilegiant and Nathaniel Lipman’s dream makes its mark. Single fundraisers coming from within the company even by small-scale collections of workmates regularly generate charitable contributions of tens of thousands of dollars in a mere 5 days — unquestionably the sign of a dedication one can admire.

Another way they try to assist is by promoting research analysis. As you probably know, every year privately owned firms and the American government put together an incredible body of statistical information. Trilegiant combs these statistics diligently to pick out the essentials and then considers how to improve them. For example, the number of road accidents in America in any given year is over six million.

So how do you cut down your risk of becoming part of these unpalatable numbers? Around three years ago, Autovantage commenced releasing its annual “road rage” surveys. Within these can be found analyses of eye opening data and useful tips to improve public awareness of the risks. Trilegiant stands as a perfect example of a business which appreciates the significance of its community and subscribers. With services introduced to enhance the public’ purchasing experiences and a real embracing of the community’s goals they show heart is in the right place. To sum up, they are the perfect community based company.

Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, feel like you have the gift of gab or just don’t know how to make small talk, networking know-how is very important for your business success. There is a notion in business that I believe most of us subscribe to that says “all things being equal, people will do business with and refer business to those they know, like and trust.” And the key to this is obviously being able to develop relationships.

Think of networking as the cultivation of mutually beneficial, win-win relationships. In order to be win-win, there must be GIVE and take (notice the emphasis on give). Networking shouldn’t be viewed as “events” where you go to sell your business. When effective networking is taking place, the parties involved actively share ideas, information, resources, etc.

Ok, so you know that you should be networking because it is one of the most cost-effective lead generation activities when used wisely, appropriately and professionally. But, maybe that seems easier said than done. Here’s a seven step plan to really get going with networking for your business.

1. Check out several groups to find the best chemistry and perceived value. Most groups will allow you to come and visit at least a couple of times before you have to join. Go and ask around to find out why others have joined and what value they get out of belonging.

Resist the urge to just go join the Chamber of Commerce simply because everyone tells you that’s what you need to do. If that’s not where your target group can be found, then you might just be wasting a considerable amount of time (and money).

I’m not telling you not to join the Chamber. Just be clear about what you’d like to get out of this or any other group. If it’s to find prospective clients or referral sources, then you need to be networking where those resources can be found.

2. When you find a group or two, join and go to all the meetings you can. Don’t go just once or twice expecting things to happen and then if they don’t quit. Building mutually beneficial, win-win relationships will take some time.

The contacts you make need to constantly see your face and hear your message. Continual contact with others over time will open up opportunities for you to go deeper and learn more about each others thoughts, ideas and capabilities in regards to your respective businesses.

Know, like, and trust generally only happens over time. Being regular and persistent will pay off.

3. Get involved – be visible. Do as much as you can to make yourself more visible within the organization. Volunteer to help with meetings, be on committees, or become a leader or board member.

Being involved does a couple of things for you and your business. First, you’ll get more opportunities to establish connections and get to know some of the contacts you’ve made even better. Secondly, the higher the visibility you have in the group, the less you’ll have to work to make new connections. Instead, as new people come into the group, they will likely seek you out because they view you as a leader within the organization.

4. Keep your circles of contacts informed. Don’t just assume that running in to someone once a month (or even once a week) will cause them to start doing business with you or sending it your way. You need to let them know what’s going on when you’re not at that particular group in order to inform and educate them.

Send them invitations to your events or open houses. Send them email or letters to share big news or success stories, especially anything of relevance to them or those in their networks of contacts. If you believe that you have valuable ideas, information and resources to share with others, then doesn’t this just make sense?

5. Work at GIVING referrals and sharing valuable information. That’s right, you need to be willing to GIVE before you get. That means you need to get to know other members and what makes a good prospect for them. What kinds of information might you have access to that could be useful to them?

You may initially think you don’t have much of value to share with others (besides your business and what you provide). Part of the key to getting good at giving is to not make assumptions. For example, don’t assume that some basic resource (e.g., a web site) that you’re aware of is familiar to someone you might be talking to just because they are the “expert” in that field. Be willing to ask if they know about the resource and ready to share if they don’t.

Want to get better at actually giving referrals? Here’s a simple question to ask someone you’re connecting with. “How am I going to know when I meet a really good prospect for you?”

Just the fact that you are willing to explore giving will elevate your know, like and trust factor.

6. Focus on Quality, not Quantity, Quantity, Quantity. It’s not necessarily about the number of connections you make, but about the quality of the ones you do make. Are they mutually beneficial, win-win relationships?

Quality connections will be identifiable because all involved parties will be actively sharing ideas, information, and resources. Yes, it is true that you need to spend some time and effort getting to know the other person(s) and what’s important to them. But, you also need to be clear and actively thinking about what information or resources you want and need.

Staying in touch with and following up with a smaller number of quality relationships will generally be much more productive than trying to follow up with a larger number of superficial contacts.

7. Be persistent, but be patient. The goal of a networking event shouldn’t necessarily be to come away with prospects every time you go out, but to come away with great connections. Networking usually takes time to get the relationships developed and nurtured.

Don’t approach networking as a scary proposition or a necessary evil for being in business. Take the pressure off yourself and really focus on how you might be able to connect with someone you meet. Focus on them first and look for ways to be useful to them. As you become known as a connector you’ll eventually be ready to reap what you sow.

Critics are vociferous in their accusations against Facebook for its apparent exposure of personal and sensitive user information. They are accusing the social networking site of using account holders’ data for commercial gain.

Facebook has recently launched new privacy settings in its site as it had announced earlier. The idea was based on the concept that users should be able to control viewership for each piece of information rather than have a blanket setting which would be applicable on all the content in that account. The new settings are in place now and users were asked to update their settings when they logged in on December 6th.

The fact that is causing uproar is that Facebook has reset all previous settings to default in this process. This means that unless a user changes his settings manually, his data will be available to other Facebook users and even to those who get to his page via search engines. With this move, Facebook has forced users to get on the job at once and update their privacy settings immediately. This is being viewed as a completely highhanded action on part of Facebook by critics and users.

Critics are accusing the social networking site of using huge chunks of private data as a lure to attract more advertisement, search engine spiders and RSS feeds. As key data like location and gender are open to public view until users restrict them from outsiders, this is being viewed as a move to maximise advertising revenues.

However, Facebook spokesperson Barry Schnitt has clarified that there is no such motive behind the privacy settings change. The only objective is to help users gain better control over their content, he assured.

With the ever-growing popularity of social networking sites, internet safety might be an issue for you if you are thinking of getting broadband for your home computer. There are a number of points to consider when deciding what broadband and choosing the best broadband for you and your family.

You have probably seen Mr. Naveen Jain’s name as being the co-founder & CEO of Intelius, Inc. the celebrated information commerce company. On top of having made the Forbes 400 Richest in America list 2000, this enterprising business leader has received various notable awards including the Albert Einstein Technology Medal, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the WSA Industry Achievement Award. But that is positively not where it ends. That’s because Mr. Jain and his kin are in the same way as enthusiastic about philanthropy and will seek to lend a helping hand as frequently as they can.

Today’s young generation are genuinely our most precious resource. They are moreover a crucial inspiration for this enterprising man and he takes advantage of every opportunity he comes across to aid them. This is why he is so unfailingly taking advantage of every chance available to offer support wherever even remotely workable. In consequence Naveen Jain, his relations and the workers at Intelius donate material amounts of time and effort to philanthropical associations such as the Overlake Service League, the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, and Hopelink. They will assign magnanimous financial support, but most importantly they commit time and attention to the youth who need it the most. Furthermore, he backs the Children’s Hospital hoping to advance the state of children’s health.

With Naveen Jain being a graduate of XLRI Jamshedpur and the Indian Institute of Technology, it is hardly astonishing that education is also a vital pivot point in his benevolent works. This incorporates causes and charitable foundations that are local, state, and nationwide. Hence, Intelius and its co-founder are involved in backing deserving causes and establishments such as Child Rights and You (CRY), United Way and the Children’s Hospital.

Feeding the world’s destitute qualifies for an equally fundamental objective to Jain and his folks and he undertakes no differentiation as to whether the person in need is a newborn or old, and neither where they are domiciled, be it the biggest city or the lowest shack. While he is acutely mindful that the goal of feeding every hungry mouth in the world can seem to be an overwhelming task, he is also cognizant that the unachievable can really be made possible provided that each person labors towards a common end. If this CEO gets his way, the final curtain will positively come down on famine and neediness in the world one day.

You might imagine that as the man in fully responsible for a highly successful market leading enterprise and a devoted husband and parent to boot would leave him no free time for charitable engagements. Regardless he ensures that each of his charitable endeavors is given as much support as he can plausibly contribute. To summarize, this enterprising man is certainly way more than a simple (albeit admittedly most successful) maverick of industry. In actual fact, he is an outstanding person and a true community benefactor.
